The Artist in The Met

This past Saturday my friend Karen and I took at trip to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. We visited the Cloisters (an annex in the north part of Manahattan), and then the main museum. This was Karen's first visit, and I was acting as tour guide and showing her all my favorite parts of the museum. As we stood looking at my favorite sculpture in the museum (Ugolino and his Sons) I was telling her about a man I saw sketching that piece once, and how good the drawing was. I had taken his picture, and it is one of my favorites. I saw him a second time working on the same drawing on a later visit. Well, as we walked around, who do we see but my friend the artist! Isn;t that weird! He is probably there every day...

We now interrupt this broadcast...

No regular post, no theme, no cute little story...just a reminder to do something important today. Put down your remotes and your game controllers, shut down your laptop, and switch off your lights. Today is March 28, 2009, and from 8:30 - 9:30 PM, local time, it is Earth Hour. No party for us - I'm planning on getting out of the house and taking a walk. Healthy for the earth and for me!

Click on any of these icons to be taken to the Earth Hour 2009 website.
The Earth thanks you for participating!

I'm going back to work, I'm going back to work!!!

On Monday night, I had my normal Monday night therapy appointment. I've made so much progress over the last couple weeks, it's amazed me, and the therapist. She said that she was going to release me, as long as it was OK with the surgeon. Well, I saw the surgeon tonight, and I'm released! From both my thereapy and my stay at home! Tomorrow I'm going into work and let them know that I will be back on Monday! Woohoo!
One more therapy appointment tomorrow night, just to learn my at-home exercises, and that is it for therapy. I'll need to see the surgeon in 3 months, and then in another 3 months. The only problem that I'm still having (other than the general weakness and occasional pains in my arm) is my thumb. It still will not straighten up from the second knuckle. If it doesn't inprove, I may need to have another surgery to fix the tendon. And, if the scar does not fade, he may want to do some plastic surgery in about 18 months.
But, that is all in the future, and right now I'm just excited to be getting back to normal! Now I'm just wondering what Daisy is going to do without me here to snuggle with during the day....

Good to the Last Drop...

No, not coffee - WINTER! Even though today is the first official day of spring, we woke up to snow this morning! Not a lot, but Ole Man Winter just had to have the last word...

Temps are going to be in the 40's today, but the next 6-7 days look beautiful - sunny and in the high 50's. Spring is here!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I'm back to being sick today (I wish this would just GO AWAY ALREADY!), so we are having corned beef sandwiches for dinner. BUT, later in the week, we'll be having corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, Irish soda bread and yummy Irish potatoes - can't wait!

Depression Cooking videos

I saw this segment on Good Morning America this morning. There are videos on YouTube made by a 93 year old woman named Clara. She shows you how to make cheap food, like her mother taught her to make during the depression. The one they showed on GMA this morning was potatoes, onions, and hot dogs all cooked together in a fry pan - it doesn't sound very healthy, but it sounds good! Unfortunately I wasn't able to look at much of her videos - everyone in the free world must have logged on once they saw her on TV, because the videos are all running slow.

Blogging Queen!

Wow - my other blogs are really taking off! My New York blog has 8 followers, and has had visitors from around the world - South Africa, Japan, China, South America, all over Europe and North America. It's amazing! And I started my Bucks County blog this week - I already have 1 follower! I don't know how I'm going to keep up with them once I go back to work, but it's too much fun to worry about that now.
Here are the links once more...
